AEMS portfolio

Actuation and assurance, designed as one system.

A coherent family of modular electromechanical actuators and intelligent assurance technologies for safety-critical civil aerospace and advanced mobility applications.

Portfolio under active development

Modular by intent

One family.
Different behaviours.

Different aircraft functions need different levels of integrity, fault response and mechanical behaviour.

AEMS is developing a common architectural approach that can be configured around the application, helping reduce unnecessary variation while preserving clear functional boundaries.

01 / Critical actuation

FT

Patent pending concept

Fault-tolerant electromechanical actuator

FT‑EMA

Intended to retain controlled actuator operation following defined internal faults.

The FT‑EMA concept brings redundant actuation, local control, sensing, diagnostics and mechanical load management into a modular line-replaceable unit. The final architecture and assurance objectives will be tailored to the intended aircraft function.

  • Direct electric actuation concept
  • Defined degraded operating states
  • Embedded sensing, BITE and health insight
  • Configurable control and communications interfaces

02 / Secondary actuation

FF

Fail-fixed electromechanical actuator

FF‑EMA

A cost-focused actuator concept for functions where a predictable fixed position is the preferred response to specified faults.

FF‑EMA is being developed with strong portfolio commonality, allowing customers to apply the same core technology across secondary axes while avoiding unnecessary critical-function complexity.

  • Predictable fail-fixed behaviour
  • Modular mechanical and electrical interfaces
  • Embedded diagnostics and maintenance information
  • Upgrade pathway within the AEMS family

03 / Configurable behaviour

FB

Back-driveable fail-fixed actuator

FB‑EMA

A back-driveable variant for functions that require controlled movement under an external load.

FB‑EMA extends the common actuator family to applications where passive movement, load relief or externally driven repositioning forms part of the system-level response.

  • Application-defined back-driving behaviour
  • Common modular product approach
  • Local position and health awareness
  • Interface tailoring around the host platform

Selection guide

Intelligent assurance

Turn equipment data into operational understanding.

AEMS software concepts are intended to complement—not replace—the host platform’s certified control laws, safety controllers or crew authority.

01

AAMA™

Adaptive Autonomous Mission Assurance. Distributed awareness intended to identify degradation, assess remaining capability and support decisions that preserve operational intent.

02

ARMS™

Coordination of energy, thermal state and configuration information to help the wider platform understand available resources and operating constraints.

03

ATLAS

A platform and ground-support layer intended to maintain configuration continuity, transfer relevant operational records and support post-operation analysis.

04

Through-life support

Structured part, version, interchangeability and maintenance information intended to support efficient inspection, repair and scheduled intervention.

A clear information boundary

Enough to assess relevance. Details shared responsibly.

Public information

Product purpose, intended behaviours, development status, application areas and high-level integration approach.

Controlled technical information

Performance data, detailed architecture, CAD and STEP files, interface-control documents, test evidence and implementation detail are shared under suitable confidentiality arrangements.
